Our small group

Andrew and SY has been such a blessing to us as we get together every Saturday night. We eat, play Sattler, share the word of God & our life and pray together. They had a little boy (Asher) 3months ago. They are in a very similar situation with us. I am so thankful for them and also for the time that we can have right now before we all go back to the states.

36weeks

Our baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She/he now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She/he's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Our baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, our baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax our baby into a head-down position by manipulating her/him from the outside of your belly.

35 weeks

Our baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

34weeks

Our baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His/ her fat layers (which will help regulate it's body temperature once he/she is born) are filling him/her out, making him/her rounder. His/Her skin is also smoother than ever. His/Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Spring in South

Justin and I went down to the south (Sun-Cheon, Yeo-Soo) to visit our relatives and friend (SeongKyeong) . It seems that everything was announcing the beauty of Spring. It was beautiful down there. We enjoyed it.

The wild Flower

Justin surprised me with a fairy-tale book on my birthday. It was very creative, beautifully written and touching! It made me cry by the time I finish reading the story. It was "our story". He said it took almost 2 months!

Visiting Justin's school

Justin asked me to teach for a few hours for a teacher who couldn't be there. So I got to meet with the kids that Justin teaches. They are so cute! They sang "happy birthday" to me!

Linguine with White Clam Sauce & spring flower

I made "Linguine with clams and White wine sauce". It's been a while since I cooked something. I went to the open market and got clams and zucchini. And I added shiitaki mushrooms. It turned out pretty good. Justin really liked it. He brought a Spring flower for me from his walk home. It opened up like a picture perfect shape. It's beautiful! Yeah... I think Spring is here. Oh.. How wonderful! The sun is warm on my cheek and all kinds of flowers are blossoming... Thank you Lord..

The Jolly's sent me a birthday card! It was so sweet of Donna to write me. She also sent me the lyrics of 'What a wonderful world' by Louis Armstrong.

Happy Birthday my little sister Shin!

It's my little sister Shin's birthday. She turned 26 this year. I can't believe that she is now a wife of a husband and lives her life somewhere really far from where I am. I thought that we would be together forever. God has shown me His grace & goodness through her life. I am very honored and proud to be her sister. I always miss you who always makes me laugh and share so many good things God has brought to us... Happy Birthday Shin...

Color

What I like to eat and see is color! It's so vivid!

What a surprise that I got a package from my dear friend Katha! There was such a cute out fit for our baby, a beautiful scarf from Israel, a foot cream from dead sea Israel, my favorite dark chocolate from Trader Joe's and the letter. I was very encouraged and touched by her letter. What a blessing to have a friend like her who loves the Lord and shares her life with me. It is truly a privilege to continue on our fellowship in Christ. I miss my German friend Katha so much!

33 weeks

This week our baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Flowers in my space

It's a rainy day today. So it's very cloudy and gloomy. I actually did not go outside for 4days. It's getting harder for me to be active and do things outside. Yet, I have been blessed with my time alone. God has been touching my heart in so many ways. (through reading His word, meditating on it, praying, reflecting my life in God's perspective, listening to classical music, doing prenatal yoga and etc) Especially, God is teaching me so much through the book of Titus right now as I do my devotions on it everyday. What a blessed hope we have through Jesus Christ! It says in Titus 3:4-7, "But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."It's kind of an overwhelming truth! I praise God for this!! And I'm thankful for little beautiful creatures that I can enjoy. So I took a picture of them. The flower on the right actually smells so good.

Happy 35th Anniversary!

Today is April 5th 2011. It's the day that we should plant trees in Korea(식목일). My mom and dad has been married for 35years. It's crazy to think that they have been together for a long time. As I am a their daughter, I know it's was by God's grace. I praise God for what He has done and what He is doing now in their life. Pray that God will continually change them to love each other more and more to pursue a life together what God has intended from the beginning. Our God is so faithful.

32 weeks

By now, our baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

31 weeks

This week,our baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.
